OKLAHOMA!" On IHS Stage Nov. 12th & 13th

Independence High School will present "Oklahoma!" at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 12th and Saturday November 13th in the high school auditorium. Independence High School is located at 6001 Archwood Road in Independence.

Set in the Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, Oklahoma tells the story of cowboy and ranch hand Curly McLain (played by Phil Hoffert) and his romance with headstrong farm girl Laurey Williams (Anne Manley). Will Curly take Laurey to the box social or will it be the sinister Jud Fry (Dylan MacDowell)? A secondary romance concerns cowboy Will Parker (Connor MacDowell) and his flirtatious fiancée, Ado Annie (Emily Mroczynski), who can't seem to choose between Will and peddler man Ali Hakim (Michael Abbadini). Meanwhile Laurey's Aunt Eller (Emilie Seitz) and Ado Annie's father, Andrew Carnes (Sean Dolansky) try to keep the peace between feuding farmers and cowboys.

"With a combination of history, music, and choreography, Oklahoma has long been a popular choice for school and community productions," said Director Meghan Campbell. "The students have worked really hard and are looking forward to performing for the community. We look forward to a big turnout."

Independence High School will present "Oklahoma!" at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 12th and Saturday November 13th in the high school auditorium.

Assisting Mrs. Campbell in the production are assistant director Michele DeScioli; choreographer Rebecca Justice; and Tom and Donna Harlan with set construction and costume design.

Tickets are $6 for students and $9 for adults and are available at the door. There is no reserve seating.
